Sofia staff volunteered to help disadvantaged children
Early November 2013, as the holiday season was just about starting, CXG volunteers joined with the Cedar Foundation, a Bulgarian non-profit working to replace institutionalized care for parentless children and young adults with family-type community services. Twenty-eight people of our staff travelled to Kyustendil to work on the facilities and spend some time with the children.
This is what we did:
- Paint the community room
- Paint benches in the courtyard
- Help with gardening
- Walk with the kids to a nearby medieval fortress
- Bring gifts: books, toys, notebooks, stationary.
Some of us spent time with the children reading, playing games, cooking lunch for everyone. CXG staff showed a great deal of enthusiasm and team spirit, and worked very hard. Most importantly, both the volunteers and the children had a really good time!
